From Machine Selection to Commissioning: A Project Checklist

Organize product requirements, equipment scope, site preparation, production trials and handover records for a plastics machinery installation project.

A plastics machinery project involves more than selecting a main machine. Tooling, utilities, installation access and production acceptance all need a clear owner. A shared checklist helps the buyer and suppliers identify unresolved questions before equipment reaches the factory.

Confirm the product brief and supply scope

Keep the agreed product drawings, material information and production targets in one project file. List the main machine, molds, auxiliary equipment and handling devices included in the order. Record which interfaces are supplied by each party and which items must be prepared locally.

Review the installation layout

Obtain the equipment layout and connection requirements for the selected configuration. Review delivery access, unloading arrangements, floor space and the routes used for materials and finished products. Check any foundation or floor-loading requirements against the equipment documentation and the site's engineering review.

  • Confirm power supply details and the location of connection points.
  • Review cooling, air and material-handling connections where required.
  • Allow access to guards, service panels, molds and routine maintenance points.
  • Agree on installation responsibilities and a realistic sequence of work.

Define the production trial before it starts

Specify the material, product, tooling and inspection method used for the trial. Agree on the dimensions, appearance and functional checks that apply to the product. Record the production conditions and observations so that the result can be reviewed against the same requirements.

Prepare the handover record

Collect the documents included in the agreed scope, such as operating instructions, equipment drawings and maintenance information. Record the training topics completed, outstanding actions and the person responsible for each follow-up item. Keep trial records with the equipment documents for future reference.
